Miraz, thank you for your comments! I am checking into a few more CMSs as well, and hope to post more of my notes.

Britta, I remember there used to be a plug-in for WP comment expiration, but somehow it just went away.

Oh and TextControl looks very interesting. I will have to check it out.

I also am not fond of having to hunt down plug-ins. I like all the functionality to be built in. Call me lazy!

Interesting to see your comments on TextPattern and the comparisons with Wordpress. I'm a WP aficionado but experimented with TP earlier this year, where I drafted up one site using it.

Haven't got back to it yet, so this is useful stuff.

Thanks.

Hi Debbie,

I'm not aware of a WP plugin for comment expiration either.

But as to output code flexibility, there is a plugin for WP called TextControl:
http://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/TextControl
which I think may be what you're looking for!

I completely agree: I'd love to have a batch action for deleting or status-chage in WP. Can't understand for the life of me why it isn't already there!

As to the 'sticky' feature: yes, there is the plugin (adhesive by Owen Winkler) for WP ... but it now needs to be updated for compat with the upcoming WP version 1.6. I would really like to see the sticky stauts incorporated right into the WP code, the way it is in TXP.

Overall - as a devoted fan and user of WP - I have to say that almost too much is handled via plugins, and plugin management becomes a huge chore. I'd love to see more core functionality as provided by plugins integrated into the WP code itself. But then, no doubt, some people will complain of bloat. ;)
