The WordPress Podcast

July 15, 2006 by debbie T | PodcastingWordPress

Besides the newly released WordPress Visual QuickStart Guide book by Maria Langer and Miraz Jordan, I was happy to hear about a new WordPress Podcast as well.

WordPress is really an awesome blogging, CMS and I can’t wait to learn more complex features. I guess I consider myself an intermediate user, but there is so much more to learn. I ordered the WordPress book from bookpool.com and it should be here on Tuesday.

  1. Debbie, the book I have earmarked is Chris J Davis upcoming Pro WordPress Development

  2. Yikes! I couldn’t find any info in the US Amazon store, but in the UK store, it says the publication date is July 2007! That has to be a typo!

  3. Debbie, something really weird has happened.
The book has disappeared … poof! Not on Amazon any more, not at Bookpool.

What’s more, Amazon seem to be doing another big upheaval – had that happen once before: my cart has vanished. Yep, all the books I painstakingly collect in there (a kind of ‘bookmarking’ shortcut for me!) have disappeared. They disappeared as I kept refreshing the page (not believing my eyes).
Last time that happened, the data were never restored to my cart and I had to start all over again.

  4. You might like to know that the current development version (2.1 alpha) contains the first step towards making WP a real content management system: you can elect to make your ‘home’ page a static Page (rather than the blog page) and divert your Blog page to another one. Really neat.

  5. Oh no! I also use the Amazon cart as a way to save things too…and I just looked. hmm, I am not 100%, but I could have sworn I had a book in there saved, hmm, the old Canon camera battery I saved ages ago is still there, but the book is gone. At least I think it is gone, anything is possible. I could have deleted it in error before.

Anyway, I mostly try to use Wish Lists, but my wish lists are so huge, I never look at them once I drop stuff in there. It is much easier to save to the cart.

I love WordPress. Glad to hear the development is moving forward.

  6. I just checked, and my Amazon cart (with probably 30 or more books saved there) is completely empty.
I am really seriously p**** off about that.
You’re lucky if you only lost one book.

As to WordPress – a happier topic!
    Yea, it’s just utterly amazing.

  7. It must be just books that messed up, because a computer system (dreaming), printer, and camera battery were still there for me.

    How bizzare.
