First Thoughts on the Canon Rebel XTi dSLR Camera

My first thoughts last night were overwhelming intimidation. But after reading a few pages of the manual, and taking a bunch of shots, I am loving the Canon Rebel XTi camera.

I think I made the right choice, and I am very happy!

Here is a depth of field experiment from this afternoon, before I started cooking a batch of tomato sauce for dinner:

I haven’t opened the Tamron (18-50mm f/2.8) lens box yet, I am having too much fun with the Canon “Nifty Fifty” 50mm lens. Seems pretty sharp to me. I just have to work on my technique!

Hey…it’s me, bella from the Q! So, did you take that picture of the garlic and onions? If you did…what an “eye” you’ve got! Sounds like you’re enjoying your new camera – congrats!

Debbie – that’s a wonderful shot! Even though I’m a Nikon guy, it sounds like you weighed all of your options, and made the perfect camera choice for you. I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun with it – I can’t wait to read about the Tamron 18-50.

Thank you Dave! I just opened the package on Sunday, and attached it to the XTi. I figured I better start using it just in case it is defective.

So far, it is a nice lens. I will know more in time.

I think I will always have a soft spot for Nikon, I found the community to be outstanding. The Canon users are nice, but Nikon users seem more down to earth for some reason. LOL.
