I have been using my nifty fifty (Canon 50mm f/1.8) lens for make-shift macro photography. The lens is very good, but if I want something really close-up, I have to crop. Sometimes my focus isn’t so hot, and my photos don’t look as sharp as they should.
Anyway, since macro photography is my #1 love, I have been longing for a 1:1 prime macro lens. Tonight I got my wish, and picked up the Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro lens. Oh my, I love this lens.
I just finished a quick shoot of a vase of roses, and it is awesome!!!! It’s lived up to my expectations, although I do need more practice. Here is a sample of my rose set:
