This is a very basic, very beginner’s tutorial. It’s for my Dad, especially since he loves to share Craig’s List items with me and my Husband.
It’s very easy to send a web page link to others by email, especially if you use email software like Thunderbird, Outlook Express, or Apple Mail.
If you don’t use an email program, and use web mail like Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail, stay tuned, there are steps for that as well. But first, let’s tackle the easiest way to send a web page link to someone.
When you find a web page you would like to share, click File>Send Link

Your email program will launch automatically.
It will open a new message window and insert the web site link into the body of the message. You can now type some more message text either before or after the link.
It’s also a good idea to probably change the "subject" text to something more descriptive too.

Once you are done, just send the message as usual.
As promised, there is also a fairly easy way to send a web page link using your web mail account.
While on the web page you want to share, highlight the link in the address bar. The address bar is at the top of the browser window.
You can highlight by clicking once on the address text or by clicking and dragging across the address. It’s best to single-click, especially if the address is very long. That way the whole address will be highlighted, and you won’t cut off the end by accident.
![]()
With the web address still highlighted, click Edit>Copy.
This command "copy" takes whatever is highlighted in the window and saves it to "Clipboard" for use later.

Now go to gmail.com, and start a new message.
Type some text for your message. Then click "enter" to start a new line/paragraph. Take note of the "blinking cursor".

Click Edit>Paste

The web link you copied will be pasted into the message at the blinking cursor.
Send the message as usual.

That’s it! Now there are no more excuses! When you find something cool on the web, share the link with your family and friends!
