So, you installed Greasemonkey, and then installed the SoS script?

If you did all that, then I really have no idea what is causing an error. I am not that familiar with the scripts anymore, I stopped working with it a long time ago.

Hi there, Debbie! I’m having a problem. After downloading Firefox and GM, all I have are empty boxes labeled “Manage User Script”? Is there something else I should be doing? Thanks!

Hello Lisi, no GM scripts are installed on your server; they are all saved on your hard drive in your Firefox profile.

I deleted GM because the script I used, not yours, was s..l..o..w….
Are there any scripts for safari?
I have not bee to thrilled with firefox.

If not: Does SICI , or SOS require to access your server?
(I’m pretty sure that is why the GM scripts I tried was a pain.)
or are they installed on my computer?
If so Can I access the script before I install it?
Former coder. i like to check!

Of course. You can make any changes to the script and redistribute it anyway you’d like.

As said, I am not the original coder/author, so please keep his copyright & creator info intact. That’s all.

Under GNU General Public License, everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
Due to you are not updating this script any longer, may I add or remove groups and distribute for free these changes without violating this license. How can I do this?.

Mia, Have you tried updating the actual scripts themselves. I wouldn't recommend going back to a prior version of Greasemonkey, only because they usually include security fixes.

Try finding the scripts' web page, or go to the flickr hacks group. Usually fixes are posted.

The reason why I am so upset (not hostile) is that you just wouldn't acknowledge that for some people this is a major annoyance, but instead have tried to play it down with statements like "there are more important things to worry about". Sure, there are more important things, but that's ALWAYS the case, with everything in life. Should we thus stop to voice our feelings about the "little things"? Certainly not.

What annoyed me is that you just don't want to deal with the arguments me and others have, but instead only play down the issue. THAT's annoying - not the fact that you seem to like these award groups. I am sure you are a lovely person, but I just don't feel comfortable if someone just brushes off a concern by saying "it's not important".

It's good that you yourself respect people's preferences with regard to icons/ awards. Still, whether you "invented" or just "improved" the script (which people have used to put awards on my photos against my explicit will), I think it would be only fair to point out to your user community that not everyone appreciates these. After all, every product that has potential "side effects" should have a warning about them, right?

But let's drop this, since I feel we are getting nowhere. I'll think about other ways to change the world.

Wow, someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

If you actually bothered to read my script article before posting your comment, you will see that I DID NOT create it, but I edited it from an original script from another flickr user. And if you bothered to read further, you will see that I am not maintaining it anymore.

And more importantly, I do not post any graphic containing comments to anyone's photo unless I know they would appreciate it. And I certainly never posted one to any of your photos! So, I am not sure why you have such hostility toward me personally.

I am going to let this drop now, because obviously you have your mind set in a certain way, and there is no getting through to you with a satisfying explanation.

Have a good day, and I really really hope that you can move on and just let it drop. There are really more important things to worry about.

Did I get that right? You were annoyed yourself by the icons, but then you told yourself that there are more important things to worry about and started off creating a script that annoys others who felt like you even more with its output? Sorry, but that's hard to get for me.

I do consider it a huge distraction from a good photo when it's all blinking and flashing below it. And I hate it when I go through my recent comments and have to visually work my way around an armada of tasteless blinking GIFs in order to find what reasonable people are actually discussing.

Be assured, I do delete icon invites/ awards on my own photos, and I even go so far as to delete comments I have left on photos of others who have posted their photo later to these mindless groups, or as to not making people contact who post a lot to these groups.

I wish flickr would install an award-opt-out setting which forbids any icons on photos of people who don't want that. But as long as that won't happen, we can only request people like you to check the profile pages of us first before you post awards to our photos. Is that really too much to ask for?
